V-Mesh Fencing at Ormiston Academy, Grimsby, North East Lincolshire
Last week we were at Ormiston Academy in Grimsby, where we installed approximately 450M of V-mesh fencing at several different areas of the school. The school opted for the cost effective V-mesh fencing with a bolt down latch system. With the majority of the job being soft dig conditions we chose to use a digger mounted auger to excavate the post holes. We augured the post holes to a depth of 600mm using our JCB 360 excavator. Then we set our posts in post crete, post crete is an ideal substitute for concrete as it does the same job but sets solid in around 10 minutes. The V-mesh fencing panels require posts to be at 3.0M centres but, as the posts are only 60mm wide, this doesn’t give us much room for error, so we set our first post then fix in our first panel, which will then give us an accurate aim for our next post hole. If fencing is to be stepped to suit ground levels, we must be sure to set posts at the correct height for any stepping. We then dig our second post hole. After that we put the post in the hole and check for any changes in ground level and adjust accordingly.
Below is the specification guide for the V-mesh fencing we used on this particular job. This was our first job with Safe Fence and it couldn’t have gone any better for us. Fantastic material along with a smoothly ran operation enabled us to ensure this job at Ormiston Academy was finished to the highest of standards.
The Protek 1000 mesh fence system provides a ‘medium duty’ security fence that is aesthetically pleasing with high through-visibility, helping it to blend into its surrounding. Protek 1000 is a welded mesh panel with horizontal triangular folds that help to form a strong, rigid fence line, particularly suitable for use as a general purpose boundary fence.
Protek 1000 V mesh fencing uses 5mm thick wire to make up 3.03m wide panels. These panels are then clipped onto the 60 x 60 posts, which are sunk into the ground. These panels have reinforcing “V” bars in them in order to strengthen the overall panel.
Posts, Clips & Fixings
The posts and clips provide a fixing system which secures the panels but allows for variations. The system is easy to install and allows the panels to be stepped, helping the fence line to follow the contours of the ground. With the vandal resistant security fixings this post and clip system provides a reasonable level of security to any boundary.
